M: We used Trello to make sure we are on pace with the project
A: I want to achieve learning and growing with my coding skills and algorithms, but at the same time also work on growing my art skills

T: We created this within the time allotted in the month of November

PRE-PRODUCTION – INQUIRY

Leader(s) in the Field / Exemplary Work(s)

A key leader in the world of coding is Sid Meier, who created the civilization game franchise being one of the most popular turn-based strategy games.

Warp Wizard

Skills Commentary

I worked on the project on backgrounds and basic sprites with Seth and basic coding and algorithms for the game. Things like turret mechanics and bullets along with the redirection code I worked on and the basic stuff that went into MVP. Backgrounds were where I put most of my effort with Seth(a lot of it got deleted).

POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION

21st Century Skills

My cooperation skills increased as we had 4 people who were all doing different things which made things more organized and made more sense. Along with my artistic skill getting better, I learned from John’s coding. We also increased our Trello efficiency by creating an accurate Trello board and keeping up with it as time and the group went on.

Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)

My thinking process had to be creative as we were constantly having to make decisions about what the game was even about and the next thing to code/sprite, figuring out the best way to create these things.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I used Trello and discord to stay in touch with my group and make sure I was on pace with others

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

I looked at others code and modified it the way I wanted it to I also checked in with others around the class

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

I evolved life skills like communication and how to manage my time better. Also for a coding career, I want to pursue It gave me more knowledge in that regard.

Reactions to the Final Version

“I really liked the redirection mechanic” -Nate.

“I think that the game was fun and well thought. The games also needed more time as well but for the different levels I think that you need a lot more time… hence the bugs” – Neremia.

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

Simple: Our game was simple in a way that could easily be understood even if it was difficult at points.

Unexpected: Our game has unique mechanics, and keeps new things coming as the game progresses.

Credible: everything we did was made by us from the art to the music to the game mechanics.

Stories: Our game features stories that were put into the game with lore that was not very deep but at least made playing the game in order rewarding.

What I Learned and Problems I Solved

I learned many things over this past month like how to use variables in an effective way to be able to make something like redirection powers. I also learned a lot about pixel art where I made complex backgrounds and many tools with it. I also watched john and how he made the AI and the bugs that came with it. Art really allowed me to express my creativity and artistic freedom.
