Intention (SMART Goal)

By Jan 13, as a Programmer, I will have created a good player movement and the ability to shoot by following this tutorial for session 3.

PRE-PRODUCTION – INQUIRY

Leader(s) in the Field / Exemplary Work(s)

Brackeys is a huge leader in my field of work. He has inspired many people including me to create simple and working code. His projects have already and will help our projects a bunch.

Training Source(s)

1:11 put the gun as a child of the camera
1:18 change the cliping plane of camera
1:29 make gun script
1:50 make floats for damage and range
3:06 make a shoot function
3:19 have the raycast hit and shoot out the camera
3:32 display name of object that is hit
4:39 Script for that
4:50 add box coliders
5:12 crosshair

PRODUCTION – ACTION

The (FILM, SOUND, or GAME Creation)

We cant play game its secret for now

Skills Commentary

I worked on the core mechanics of the game using basic 3D game mechanics like movement (sprinting, crouching, directional movement) and setting up prefabs for the base special mechanic of the game. Definitely the most complex thing though was recoil which just was a lot of code for minor bumps when firing a weapon.

POST-PRODUCTION – REFLECTION

21st Century Skills

Ways of Thinking (Creativity, Innovation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving)

My creativity helped me get through some blocks in the road when it came to coding as certain tutorials didn’t mesh together or I would have to take certain parts of different tutorials and splice them together.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I collaborated with the map designer to discuss how the map and the mechanics would mesh together with the map. With the artists I didn’t have much impact with but with the network coder I have had to design around the network that they built and used.

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

Tools I used for working include Unity Documentation, Youtube, Unity Forums, My Laptop, and of course Unity. I wanted to point this section out above the rest because as I work my way to make more complex sort of code I have been using these resources to fill in the knowledge that I did not have.

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

I built experience to eventually become a game designer. Learning more about code and being disciplined with what I was ask to do.
